In 2000 the company made plans for setting up global account teams based in Europe - the first time global responsibility had been established outside the US. 

Forecasting significant growth in revenues from the three designated accounts, early results were disappointing; broader relationships with the accounts had not been created, and the account teams were failing to consolidate their global activities.

With Academy’s help the board of directors created a new strategy for the group, and as a result radically reformed their key objectives and the accountabilities of their global account managers. After a series of strategy workshops and training sessions, initiatives were put in place to resolve internal issues, a major breakthrough was achieved with their German-based customer, and global initiatives were established at two others. Revenues came on target within six months, and the US parent company – so impressed with success of the initiative - adopted the planning process to support their own global teams.
